AWAY WIN

Welney won the toss and asked Dersingham to bat first.

Croft's bowlers started well keeping the home team restricted to just 15 off the first 10 overs, Things were going so well John Loveday and Paul Kaminski bowled their allotted overs straight through, leaving Dersingham on only 41 after 20 overs, with openers Cook and White still at the crease. With the change of bowlers Dersingham raised the tempo considerasbly after the departure of Cook (28 ) - the Southgate brothers, Ben (30) & John (51), added a quick fire 56 to the end of the 30th over. John Gill bowled well, his slower pace, line & length stemmed the run rate taking 2 for 26 off his 6 over spell. Jon Dale also caused problems clean bowling 3 middle order bats. Duncan Hobbs made a welcome return, still having safe hands, picking up 3 catches at mid wicket. However the home side had recovered, adding a further 115 off the final 20 overs finishing on 156 for 8 wkts.

After the tea break Croft's openers Paul Kaminski (36) and Stephen Kent (44) started well and at the drinks break, after 20 overs had reached 81, well on target with all wickets still standing. Shortly after this break Paul had to retire, limping to the pavilion with a groin strain. Up to this point only 3 boundaries had been recorded, the running had taken its toll! John Norman (22) then came to the crease and was soon off the mark with 2 boundaries and kept the scorboard ticking before being caught in the deep outfield. The first wicket fell at 114 and then Jon Dale lasted just 3 balls, leaving Neil Parkinson (13) and Steve Saberton (24) to see Croft over the winning line.
