EASY WIN FOR CAMRA Croft entertained Peterborough CAMRA in a friendly fixture which turned out to be a match of two halves – glorious sunshine until the tea interval, then generally cold and overcast conditions. CAMRA won the toss and decided to bat. All the home bowlers toiled away in vain against a very good batting line up – R Vitas (64), McClean (27) and Bradbury (77 n.o). Pick of the home bowlers being Gareth Kent (1 for 25), Steve Saberton (1 for 26) followed by Jon Dale (1 for 32) all bowling their full 8 overs. Highlight in the field was Ashley Inwood’s brilliant catch at deep gully, off Jon Dale’s bowling. Welney bowling - Steve Saberton 1 for 26, Gareth Kent 1 for 25, John Loveday 0 for28, Viral Patel 0 for 27, John Dale 1 for 32, Keiran Gaddam 1 for 50. After the break the sun had given way to the clouds threatening rain and the home batsmen struggled from the start against a good bowling attack. Neil Parkinson 25 (85 mins) made a determined effort to hold the innings together and only Stephen Kent (12) and Steve Saberton (15) made double figures. Croft were never on target to overhaul the visitors score of 191 and were well beaten in the end by 105 runs.
