Introduction

  • The Council hold ordinary meetings monthly, usually on the first Tuesday. They also hold extra meetings as necessary.
  • The Council's own website has minutes of those meetings since 2011; here you can see them back to 2004.
  • Minutes of Council ordinary meetings prior to Oct 2004 are not available on-line but the Webmaster has hard-copies for minutes back to Jan 1991
  • Minutes of Council meetings have been taken from the Council's websites (past and present) and from the webmaster's own files.
  • Minutes of all Council Committees and sub-committees should also be published but this has not been the general rule. e.g.
    • Minutes of the Council's "New Building Committee" are not published.
    • Minutes of the Council's Welney Archive & Social History ["WASH"] Committee have not been published since 2008.
  • Minutes of meetings of the Playing Field and William Marshall Centre Trustees (the Council in a different guise) were published from Nov 2015 to Jun 2016 but not since. Some that were published may have been later removed
  • Minutes of meetings of the Welney Parish Hall Management Committee, a long-defunct Council committee, and the previous non-council Parish Hall committee are on the Parish Hall pages

ACCOUNTING FRAUD
At the Council meeting on 3rd June 2019, Chairman Cllr. Loveday read out an email from DC Foreman of Norfolk CID

"... detectives from King's Lynn are investigating allegation of financial misconduct within Welney Parish Council. Enquiries continue, however financial irregularities with the accounts dating back several years have been discovered. One female suspect has been questioned."

It is widely known that the suspect is Mrs Copeman, the Clerk from Feb 1996 to Apr 2017 who is said to have confessed.
