The church is part of a united benefice, who in early 2008 opened their own site which includes service details.

The church is on the west side of Main Street.  It was built in 1848, with money from the William Marshall Charity. William Marshall was a 17th century lawyer working on the drainage of the fens, who became ill while visiting Welney and was so well cared for by the villagers that he set up a charity for the benefit of the community.

Although there was an earlier church building on the site (SE of the present church), Welney did not become a separate parish until 1862. Until then it was part of Upwell St. Peter parish. It is said the rubble of the old church was sold for £5.

The beautiful east window was designed by Wilmhurst and based on Reynold's "faith, hope and charity". The side panels show the Tudor rose for England, the royal coat of arms, and the portcullis symbolising parliament.

The tiled reredos each side of the window were added in 1887 to mark the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria's  accession to the throne.

A new page on the Church is in underway, and should be posted during Oct/Nov 2008
